What is Tracy House?
Tracy House is a communal, supportive home where women who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless can find safety and security. We can house up to eight women at a time. Our goal is for our residents to begin to establish rental history, build life skills, and work towards financial independence.
A Communal Supportive Home
Hand Up vs. Hand Out
Tracy House is where each woman contributes to the financial stability of the home. We have discovered when people contribute financially to their home, they become invested in achieving their own success.
A House vs. A Home
Though we are not a sober living home, we do not allow any drugs or alcohol on premises and will not tolerate any personal drug or alcohol usage. In order to learn life skills and learn to live cooperatively, the residents of the Tracy House participate maintaining the home by cleaning, doing chores, grocery shopping, and cooking.
Survive vs. Thrive
The debilitating effects of chronic homelessness and trauma can lead to mental illness, substance abuse, and the compromising of dignity; all of these things lead to hopelessness. Tracy House is able to provide opportunities for women to feel safe, learn life, skills, and eventually thrive on her own.
